Redeeming the Time

—HEART TO HEART— Good Morning! Did you get an extra hour of sleep or did you stay up an extra hour? We can play with time but we can’t stop it. Time is the measure of our lives. We will be held accountable by the Lord on how we have used our time. We are commanded to “redeem the time because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:16) In other words, we are to buy it back (the definition of redeem). So many have a saved soul and a wasted life. The world, the devil, our responsibilities, our friends and family, our entertainment, often steal our time. How much time do we waste that could have been better spent? Every day, possibly many times a day, we need to purposely give our time to the Lord. Ask Him what He wants us to do with this precious, fleeting commodity. It’s only here once and then it’s gone. Thank you for using this time to be at Life in Christ. –Pastor Allen

How Do I Know God Loves Me?

—HEART TO HEART— How do I know that God loves me? Many things express that, including the beauty of the sunrise, the majesty of the mountains, the freshness of the air, etc. But not all people have those blessings. Many become disillusioned when bad things happen to them and wonder if God really loves them. I know He loves me because His Word tells me so. But there must be more than words in love. True love is giving of ourselves for the other. That is what the Lord has done for you and me. I should never have to wonder if God loves me, all I have to do is look at the cross. There He clearly demonstrated how much He values us and loves us. Love must be expressed in words and in actions. Today is our chance to love on God by our prayers, praise, worship and giving. Let’s give Him everything for He is worthy. He loves us. –Pastor Allen

Generosity Update

—HEART TO HEART— Don’t you hate it when people ask you to pray for someone and then never tell you what happened or how they are doing? You may be praying for some time and finally you ask how they are doing, only to hear the response, “Oh, they died long time ago.” Or, have you given to a project only to hear nothing back from them – often not even a thank you. Here at Life in Christ we want to be as transparent as possible. We want to say thank you for praying, for participating, and for giving. Last Sunday, because of your generosity, we were able to give our missionary Darrell Blatchley a check for $950 as he continues to minister at Family Circus in the Philippines. The Royal Ranger banquet a couple Sundays ago cleared around $1400 that will go to help support the program throughout the year. Thank you so much for your giving heart. –Pastor Allen

A New Drive

—HEART TO HEART— Tomorrow is Columbus Day. We know that Columbus did not actually ‘discover’ America. There were people already here. We also know that his purpose was mostly to establish a new trade route to India. But we also know that he was a very religious man. When he landed in the Caribbean he claimed the land for Spain and for God. In the next 200 years Spain sent over 15,000 missionaries to the Americas. In a recent book by Carol Delany of Brown University she states that Columbus wanted to find gold  in the New World to finance a new crusade to recapture Jerusalem from the Muslims, believing that Jerusalem must be in Christian hands before Jesus’ Second Coming. Their spiritual understanding may have been off, but the missions zeal is commendable. This Columbus Day, let’s pray for a new drive to evangelize the lost around us and to all the world until Jesus comes. –Pastor Allen

Heritage From the Lord

— HEART TO HEART— Congratulations Caleb and Cam on the public dedication of their child -Indie Fox McLean! And also, congratulations to Mike and Angel Sterritt on the birth of their long anticipated son, Justice Dean Michael, born early Tuesday morning. Children are a heritage from the Lord. Malachi 2:15 states, “Did He not make them one, (speaking of a husband and wife)… and why one? He seeks godly offspring.” These children are a gift from God to these parents to raise them for the Lord. The Lord loves it when a husband and wife unite together and produce children for His honor and His glory. Our job as a church is to come alongside parents and children in unconditional love, guidance, direction, encouragement, prayers and challenge so that they love God, love their family, love the church, love the Word and Spirit of God and love themselves for the glory of God. Let’s join together today. Pastor Allen

Families & Children

— HEART TO HEART—   Matthew 19:14 tells us that Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them.” (ESV) Jesus also said in Matthew 18:6 “ but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.” We here at Life in Christ are striving to have increasingly effective children’s ministries. Our volunteers all are required to have background checks and are conscientious workers. Now, each Sunday a qualified person will be in the Nursery for both the Sunday School hour and morning worship time.  The safety policy we follow is posted in the Nursery. Spread the good news! We want to help young parents get the most out of our services as possible . We love children and love the opportunity to partner with parents in their child’s discipleship. Pastor Allen

Focus On The Lord

— HEART TO HEART—   Proverbs 29:25 states “The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever trusts the Lord shall be safe.” And Galatians 1:10 says, “For if I still pleased men, I would not be the bond servant of Christ.” If we would be honest, the fear of man keeps us back from many things. This morning we are dedicating our service to prayer and worship. Please don’t be intimidated by others as you reach out to the Lord. Let’s just focus on the Lord and what He thinks and the direction that He will lead us and not be concerned about what our family members or others may think. Right now, you only have to answer to the Lord. Don’t let the fear of man keep you from the blessing that the Lord wants to give you today.    Pastor Allen

What Do You Need?

— HEART TO HEART—   What do you need today?   “My God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6) That’s quite a promise. Jesus said in Matthew 6:33—”Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.” In that place, Jesus was speaking about material things, like food, clothing, etc. God knows what you need. He has promised to meet your needs; emotional, physical, and spiritual. If you have a need today (and who doesn’t), you can be assured that our Lord wants to meet your need. I challenge you to believe Him today. You are precious and valuable to Him. He is your Father, He will certainly take care of His own. This service is for you and Him. Receive from Him today.   Pastor Allen
